Bakkerud Takes Q3, Hansen Climbs the Order

Monster Energy RX Cartel’s Andreas Bakkerud set the quickest time in Q3 at the Swecon World RX of Sweden, round six of the FIA World Rallycross Championship to extend his lead in the Intermediate Classification.

Early morning rain at Holjes continued into Q3 making track conditions slippery and changeable, but Bakkerud took the hole shot in Q3 race 3 and won to be quickest. His time wasn’t beaten, but by winning Q3 race 5, Team Hansen MJP’s Timmy Hansen was second quickest in the session and climbed from P16 to P2 in the Intermediate Classification.

P3 in Q3 was race 2 winner Kevin Hansen. He finished on track in front of GRX Taneco’s Niclas Gronholm who takes P4, with his GRX teammate and Q2 winner Reinis Nitiss P5 in the session.

Highest placed of the GCK team was GCK Academy driver Guillaume De Ridder, who finished behind GRX’s Timur Timerzyanov in race 1, but was handed race victory and climbed in the time sheets when Timerzyanov was disqualified from Q3 for exceeding track limits.

Overnight P2 Anton Marklund was P7 in Q3. Olsbergs MSE teammates Sebastian Eriksson and Kevin Eriksson were 1 and 2 in race 4 with P8 and P9 in the times when Pailler Competition’s Fabien Pailler forgot to take the joker lap and was given a 30 second penalty.

GCK’s Rokas Baciuska was P10 in Q3 and Philip Gehrman and Janis Baumanis survived contact with each other to be P11 and P12. RX Catrel’s Liam Doran spun at the first turn of race 2 in a session where ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport’s Timo Scheider and GCK Academy’s Cyril Raymond also had spins in the slippery condition.
