Sweden’s Robin Larsson scored victory in round one of the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar at the Dayinsure World RX of Great Britain.

JC Raceteknik’s Larsson took maximum points from round one at Silverstone by taking TQ (top qualifier) in the Intermediate Classification, winning semi-final one and then leading the final in front of a resurgent Thomas Bryntesson to take the win.

“We had good starts in almost every heat and in the finals. I was a little bit worried when the rain came in the semi-finals, because I haven’t done a proper start in the rain, but it worked well. The driving felt really good in the semi-final, but in the final, it was so hard to find the right line,” Larsson said. “It was the first time during the weekend that I was really pushed by Bryntesson. It’s a real pleasure to drive this car, you can really push to the limit and it feels like we have so much to find out about the car and my driving. It’s so fun.”

Driving a Volkswagen Polo for the first time, Bryntesson was P2 in Q4 and then won semi-final two to join Larsson on the front row of the final, then followed the leader for the whole race. Sweden’s Pontus Tidemand climbed from row three on the grid to third at the first corner but finished P6 in an Eklund Motorsport Volkswagen Beetle.

FIA World Rallycross Championship podium finisher Jean-Baptise Dubourg finished third, in front of ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport’s Rene Muennich and Dubourg’s DA Racing teammate Andrea Dubourg.
