The Super DIRTcar Series will be making their second trip this season to Brewerton Speedway for the fourth annual Duel at the Demon.
This Friday, September 14th the Super DIRTcar Series will be making their second trip this season to Brewerton Speedway for the fourth annual Duel at the Demon.
2017 saw ‘Super’ Matt Sheppard make a late race charge around local favorite, Larry Wight, for the Duel at the Demon victory. Earlier this season saw Sheppard pick up where he left off by winning the Showdown at Sundown 100. Will Sheppard go two-for-two this season at the D-Shaped Demon or will one of the track regulars defend their turf?
Fourth and fifth place in the Super DIRTcar Series standings, teammates Jimmy Phelps and Max McLaughlin, call the D-Shaped Demon their home on Friday nights. Phelps, who recently just celebrated his track championship at Brewerton will be the man to beat come Friday night under the lights. Both Phelps and McLaughlin hold two victories at the 1/3-mile dirt oval.
Another hot shoe regular at Brewerton Speedway who will be looking to take the 100-lap victory Friday night will be ‘Lightning’ Larry Wight who capped off the season second in points at his Friday night home track. He’ll be looking to take advantage of his extensive notebook against the series regulars.
The following day, the Super DIRTcar Series will be invading Mohawk International Raceway on Saturday, September 15thfor the Mohawk 100.
Former Series regular, Tim Fuller, has been on fire at the 4/10-mile. Fuller, a Mohawk regular, just recently claimed the 358 Modified Mohawk track championship and tied the all-time single season win total with eight victories this season.
Last year saw Fuller make a pass over Billy Dunn with 40 laps remaining to pull away with the series victory. Fuller will be looking to continue his impressive streak at his home track when the stars and cars come to town on Saturday to invade the Akwesasne dirt oval.
With just seven Super DIRTcar Series races left for the 2018 title chase, let’s look at who has done what so far this season:
