The Big Show 10 at Albany-Saratoga Speedway saw a hefty 55 modifieds sign into the pits to attempt to qualify for Tuesday night’s feature in Malta, NY, and take the $10,000 payday.

After 100 laps at the 1/4-mile track, it was NASCAR Truck Series star Stewart Friesen who came out on top in front of a packed house. Friesen’s win was his second Super DIRTcar Series victory of the season and moved him into sixth place in the drivers' points standings.

Following a third-place result on Tuesday, Jimmy Phelps now leads in the overall standings with 280 points, taking over the top spot from Matt Sheppard, who finished 13th in Malta and now sits in third place in the points chase. Max McLaughlin is second overall in the standings with 270 points after finishing as the runner-up at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.

The next Super DIRTcar Series race slated to take place this Sunday at Cornwall Speedway in Cornwall, Ontario. The “O’Canada 100” will be the first trek of the season into Canada for the series.

Last year’s race saw the “Frequent Flyer” Billy Decker lead the way at Cornwall Motor Speedway, but lapped traffic became challenging, allowing Matt Sheppard to slip by Decker with just nine laps remaining to capture the Super DIRTcar Series victory. Following Decker was Larry Wight, Keith Flach, and Pat Ward to round out the top five.

Cornwall Motor Speedway regular Chris Raabe will be looking to defend his home turf come Sunday evening against the stars and cars of the Super DIRTcar Series. Raabe, who runs small block modifieds weekly at Cornwall Motor Speedway, won this event back in 2012.

“We only compete at Cornwall in a small block for the annual Super DIRTcar Series race because we don’t own any big block motors,” Raabe noted. “The Cornwall win back in 2012 is still a gratifying moment for our race team. We were able to battle through an extremely competitive field of series regulars in front of our home crowd. It was certainly a big win for a small team on the series.”

Raabe has one win at his Sunday night home track and currently sits third in the championship point standings.
