A hefty $10,000 payout and a guaranteed starting position in the 47th running of NAPA Super DIRT Week later this fall are up for grabs as the Super DIRTcar Series invades Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY, on Tuesday, June 26, for Brett Hearn’s Big Show 10.

Last year’s Big Show 9 saw a hard-fought, 100-lap battle between three of the top drivers of the Northeast. Stewart Friesen, who doubles as a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standout, led three-quarters of the race until “Lightning” Larry Wight slid by him to go out front. However, just three laps later, “T-Mac” Tim McCreadie blasted around the cushion to go from fourth to the lead on lap 77. McCreadie went on to lead the final 23 laps of the Big Show 9 to claim the $10,000 winner’s share.

Hearn, who has been promoting this great event for 10 years, rounded out the top five in the Big Show 9. The eight-time Super DIRTcar Series champion last notched a win at the Big Show in 2013 and will once again be in the hunt as the series heads into its third race of the season.

Other previous winners in the field include Friesen, who captured the Big Show in 2016 after battling down to the wire with Billy Decker to win by 0.088 seconds. Friesen won this year’s series opener at Weedsport Speedway on May 28 but had to miss last week’s race at Brewerton Speedway—which was won by Matt Sheppard—due to conflict with his NASCAR Trucks schedule.

In 2015, the “Baldwinsville Bandit” Jimmy Phelps took Hearn’s money and ran away with the 100-lap victory. It’s been a year and a half since Phelps has collected a series victory. He’ll be a strong contender looking to take the hefty payday come Tuesday night.

The 2014 edition of the race saw “The Doctor” Danny Johnson make a house call by taking the winner’s share for the Big Show 6 over Decker and Sheppard.

Another local favorite who will have a lot to say about who carries the Big Show X checkers is Matt Delorenzo, who recently picked up his first win of the season at his Friday night home track and is currently sitting second in points at Albany-Saratoga.

Albany-Saratoga Speedway standouts Ronnie Johnson and Ken Tremont Jr. and Super DIRTcar Series regular Keith Flach have also been victorious this year at the 4/10-mile dirt track, semi-banked clay oval.

“We’ve got a great group of teams committed to running most of the series races and when you add in the top weekly competitors from Albany-Saratoga, plus several other drivers who have told me that they’re looking forward to the race, I expect we’ll have the largest field of the summer,” Hearn said.

With the Super DIRTcar Series invading the Malta track to battle the Albany-Saratoga regulars, fans will see the best big-block modified racing has to offer plus all sorts of activities that will be held throughout the night.

All fans are advised to come early for the opportunity to “Pick the Quick.” If one lucky fan can name the top five fastest drivers in time trials, they take home a $1,000 cash prize! The Pick the Quick will be open for picking from 4-5 PM. Once the contest closes there will be an autograph session behind the main grandstands at 5 PM, allowing the fans to meet and greet with the stars.
