Australians dominated the World Series of Sprintcars (WSS) through the first five rounds of the series. As it turns out, that was because Donny Schatz was racing in the East Coast Logistics Series.

On Wednesday, Schatz won in convincing fashion in his first attempt with the WSS at Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane, Australia.

The two main groups of American invaders — the first of which consisted of Schatz, Logan Schuchart, and Lucas Wolfe and the second consisting of Dominic Scelzi and Carson Macedo — joined forces to race in round six of the WSS. Schatz led every circuit of the 30-lap feature after starting on the pole. Fellow American invader Lucas Wolfe was on the prowl and took second place after starting second.

Tasmania’s Shaun Dobson was the highest-finishing Australian. Local driver Luke Oldfield finished fourth after running in the top three the majority of the race.

The Australians who dominated the WSS so far were not far behind. Last week’s star, Kerry Madsen, grabbed a top five finish to continue his tremendous tenure at home.

Logan Schuchart — who also scored a victory in East Coast Logistics competition on this very track on New Year’s Day — settled into sixth.

James McFadden finished seventh.

Carson Macedo had the most difficult route into the Feature. He advanced through the C-Main and the B to pass the most cars for the night. He won the C and finished second in B after starting 12th. Macedo kept passing cars in the A; after starting 17th in that race, he grabbed the last spot in the top 10.

The locals and American invaders will reconvene at Archerfield on Friday night for the seventh round of the WSS.
