Two full time Outlaws started on the front row at Archerfield Speedway in Acacia Ridge, Queensland and showed the native racers that they came to play. Nine-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Champion Donny Schatz and Sophomore Logan Schuchart started second and first respectively in Thursday night’s feature. Schuchart would end the night victorious over the titan of his home series, but not after first giving up the lead on the first lap to Schatz.

As Schatz and Schuchart battled up front, they pulled away from the field. Brent Kratzmann was the closest competitor in third when he slid up the track, jumped the cushion, and hit the wall to cause the first caution of the night. Schatz maintained his lead on that restart and the next a few laps later when Brock Dean lost control in turn one.

In the first three green flag runs, Schatz could not shake Schuchart. But on lap 20 the Young Gun finally powered past Schatz high on the cushion to take the lead. Once in the lead, Schuchart had the chance to separate himself from Schatz as they hit lapped traffic. That is until Andrew Scheurele tipped over on lap 24 and was hit by Callum Walker to bring out the third caution.

On the first lap after the restart, Schatz recorded his fastest lap of the race—rocketing around at 14.330 seconds—but could not secure the pass on Schuchart. The Pennsylvania native went on to win the race over Schatz and Luke Oldfield who started fifth.

Fourth-place Peter Lack and Mark Pholi both advanced three positions to finish out the top five. Pholi recorded Fast Time before the heats began.
