Christopher Bell Goes Back-To-Back In The West
Barely 24 hours after winning a USAC race in California, Christopher Bell scored another win in the Copper Classic at Arizona Speedway.

One week after earning the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series championship, Christopher Bell won the USAC Turkey Night Grand Prix Midget race. Barely 24 hours later, he added a second victory to his resume in the American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region’s Copper Classic at Arizona Speedway in Queens Creek, AZ.
Bell started on the outside of the front row and made short work of pole sitter Billy Chester III—taking the lead in the turns one and two and pulling away to a sizeable lead before the first caution waved on lap six. The yellow rag was dropped just as the field was about to hit lapped traffic.
Bell stretched his advantage again—and once again he was slowed as he was prepared to put lapped cars between him and the second-place battle. That dustup now included Chester and Colton Hardy, with Justin Sanders getting his nose under the pair.
This time, the race went green and Bell yarded the field. He built a five second lead and as it turned out, he needed the advantage. In the closing laps, Bell’s engine began spewing water on his legs.
Chester prevailed in the battle for second with Colby Copeland rounding out the podium.
Finishing fourth, Sanders locked into Saturday’s A-Main along with the top three and will not need to race through the heats and B-Mains.
Hardy faded to fifth, but he managed to stretch his advantage over second-place Rick Ziehl, who failed to finish and was credited with 18th. Hardy enters the season finale Saturday with a comfortable 96-point advantage.
