Shannon Babb climbed to the top of the standings on limited starts this week.

April showers bring May flowers, and if that is truly the case, significant swaths of the middle of the country are going to be ornate in a couple of weeks.
Rain canceled two races in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and one Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model event in the past week.
That was far less impactful in late models because the series managed to squeeze in three shows. These came in three different states with trips to Atomic Motor Speedway in Oak Ridge, TN, Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH, and Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, PA.
The sprint car drivers had to find someplace else to race. Sheldon Haudenschild took the opportunity to visit his home state track and win an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions race in Ohio, but since that is not one of the big four series tracked by the FloRacing Power Rankings it did not help or hurt him.
This week, there was quite a bit of movement at the top of the rankings. Scott Bloomquist sat atop the both the Combined and Late Model Power Rankings leaderboard this past week with 95.20 percentage points to Shannon Babb's 91.67. His victory and four top five finishes in five features gave him a lot of momentum, but it would not be enough to keep him at the top of the order.
Bloomquist got off to a strong start this past week with a third at Atomic, but he struggled soon after. A 19th at Sharon in a 27-car field provided only 33 points and sent him plummeting 12 spots down the rankings.
Meanwhile, Babb rested on his laurels. With three top fives in three big league late model races in the past 60 days, he is liable to stay atop the rankings for a while.
Bloomquist's loss of position allowed four sprint car drivers to move up along with Babb.
Sam Hafertepe Jr. continues to dominate the Sprint Power Rankings with five wins in the first five races of that series. He does not have a perfect rating of 100 percent, however, because of an 18th-place finish in a World of Outlaws race at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, in early March.
Johnny Herrera, David Gravel, and Donny Schatz also benefited from Bloomquist's demise.
Another sprint car driver, Justin Henderson made the most significant move up the rankings. FloRacing's formula looks at the past 60 days in order to reward current momentum. That allowed Henderson's only poor result--a 17th in at World of Outlaws race at Volusia Country Speedway--to age out of the formula.
2. Sam Hafertepe Jr., 89.83
3. Johnny Herrera, 89.20
4. David Gravel, 86.93
5. Donny Schatz, 86.79
6. Justin Henderson, 86.00
7. Chris Madden, 84.25
8. Brandon Sheppard, 84.13
9. Devin Moran, 83.67
10. Brad Sweet, 83.50
