Who To Watch
Cory Hedgecock
The defending 2016 champion, Hedgecock returns in 2017 with his eye on claiming another title. Last year, he got off to a strong start by winning the two-night season opener at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee. Hedgecock already has five wins for the season in other series, including a 40-lapper at I-75. Hedgecock grabbed night one of last year's Rumble.
Marcus Minga
Last year, Minga ran the full NeSmith series before finishing fifth in the standings. His best result was a trio of seventh-place finishes, including one at Greenville. This year, he has a Rocket XR1 chassis that he hopes improves his performance.
Ahhna Pankhurst
Pankhurst is a developmental driver for Richard Childress' affiliated dirt car team, Shane McDowell Racing. At 16 years of age, Pankhurst already has four seasons of competition under her belt. Last year, she scored her first NeSmith top 10 in her second start at Penton Raceway in Lafayette, AL.
Colton Horner
Only 14 years old, Horton ran the NeSmith Winter Shootout to test the waters. In five starts, he failed to crack the top 10 but came close with an 11th-place finish at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City.
Trey Wood
Earned top 10s in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model and Southern Thunder Late Model Series.
Grant Garrison
Had an impressive sixth-place finish at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, with NeSmith last year.
