Jimmy Owens ended his nearly year-long winless drought Thursday at Volunteer Speedway, edging Jonathan Davenport by just .002 of a second for the $20,000 victory on FloRacing Night in America.
The 54-year-old Newport, Tenn., driver led from the pole to secure his first victory of 2026 and third career series triumph. His last won Nov. 1, 2025, at East Alabama Motor Speedway.
Davenport passed Chris Madden for second following a lap-45 restart and closed on Owens, narrowly missing a last-lap upset.
The scheduled 50-lapper went 51 laps because of a scoring malfunction. Series director Ben Shelton said the rulebook establishes the checkered flag as the official conclusion, with the finishing order at that point determining the payoff.
For Owens, it marked his first FloRacing Night in America victory since Oct. 11, 2022, at 411 Motor Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. See results sponsored by Swift Springs below.
