With inclement weather forecast for Wednesday through Friday, this weekend’s 46th Annual ARP Dirt Track World Championship at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells has been pushed back one day and will be contested on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-18. | DTWC Fast Facts
A Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series press release announcing the schedule change said the decision was made because the wet forecast comes after the remnants of Hurricane Isaias left the WVMS grounds heavily saturated from more than 4 inches of weekend rain.
Saturday’s DTWC preliminary program will include time trials, heats, B-mains and twin 25-lap semifeatures paying $5,000-to-win. Sunday’s card features last-chance races, the Jim Dunn Non-Qualifiers’ Race and the 100-lap DTWC that offers a $100,000 top prize and serves as the finale of the 2026 Lucas Oil Series season.
The Carl Short-promoted DTWC was scheduled to begin on Thursday with action for the Limited Late Model and sport modified divisions while open-wheel modifieds were on the card with qualifying events on Friday and a feature on Saturday. All three support divisions will now race Oct. 24, leaving this weekend’s competition for Super Late Models only.
All gates are set to open at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with hot laps scheduled to begin at 4:45 daily.
