Aaron Reutzel snapped a 12-race winless streak Friday at Lakeside Speedway, earning his 11th Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing victory of the season in the Heartland of America Showdown opener.
Reutzel, who started from the pole, reclaimed the lead from Daison Pursley following a first-lap caution and controlled the remaining 24 circuits aboard his Ridge & Sons Racing No. 87 machine. His 18th career series victory moved him back to second in points, 89 behind Rico Abreu with three races remaining.
Pursley finished second for his best High Limit result of his first season with Kasey Kahne Racing. Giovanni Scelzi placed third, recording his sixth podium in nine races and trimming his championship deficit to 97 points. Tanner Holmes and Tyler Courtney completed the top five.
