Chase Dietz rebounded from Thursday’s heartbreak to capture Friday’s 25-lap Hampel Oil Night Before the 50 at Port Royal Speedway, earning his first career Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing victory.
Dietz appeared headed for victory Thursday before shredding a right-rear tire while leading with three laps remaining. The York, Pa., driver returned Friday and needed only four laps to move the Stehman Motorsports No. 23 from the fourth starting spot into the lead.
Dietz traded the top spot several times with Pennsylvania standout Ryan Smith, who led laps 1-3 and regained command on lap nine. Dietz moved ahead for good on lap 10, then navigated traffic and survived a green-white-checkered restart to secure his nation-leading 20th 410 Sprint Car victory of 2026.
Dietz joined Kyle Larson and Corey Day as the only drivers not competing full time with a national tour to defeat both the World of Outlaws and High Limit this season.
Smith recorded a career-best High Limit finish in second and clinched Port Royal’s track championship for Kreitz Racing. Giovanni Scelzi finished third, followed by Daison Pursley. Justin Whittall advanced from 15th to fifth. Rico Abreu, Tanner Holmes, Cameron Smith, Chase Randall and Ryan Timms completed the top 10.
