High Limit Racing launches its West Coast swing Thursday with 27 cars entered for the series inaugural visit to Santa Maria Speedway in Nipomo, Calif.

The $12,000-to-win event ends a three-week break for the national tour and opens a stretch of 10 races in 17 days across California, Oregon and Washington. Thursday’s stop precedes weekend events at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., on Friday and Placerville (Calif.) Speedway on Saturday.

Points leader Rico Abreu leads a field featuring all six drivers currently within 139 points of the championship lead. Abreu holds an eight-point advantage over Aaron Reutzel, while Giovanni Scelzi (-36), Tyler Courtney (-103), Justin Peck (-123) and Brent Marks (-139) remain within striking distance with 24 points races left.

The entry list also includes several drivers carrying momentum from last weekend’s Knoxville Nationals. Kasey Kahne finished third in the 50-lap finale, while James McFadden, Tanner Holmes, Courtney, Corey Day, Abreu, Tanner Thorson and Sye Lynch also qualified for the Nationals A-main.

Dominic Scelzi joins the field aboard CJB Motorsports’ No. 5, filling in for the injured Brenham Crouch throughout the 10-race West Coast swing.
