Dan Ebert picked the perfect stage for a career breakthrough Saturday at Batesville Motor Speedway, charging from the 11th starting spot to capture the $50,000 Ace Doran Topless 100 for his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory and first career Super Late Model triumph.
The Lake Shore, Minn., driver moved ahead for good with 12 laps remaining, moments before 22nd-starting Josh Rice became one of several contenders slowed by a flat tire during the 82-minute feature. Ebert controlled the rest of the distance and crossed the finish line nearly five seconds ahead of two-time Topless 100 winner Dale McDowell.
