Kyle Larson won his third straight Front Row Challenge and sixth overall Monday at Southern Iowa Speedway, using an aggressive, contact-inducing slider on Ryan Timms to take the lead with five laps remaining.
Larson’s lap-26 move knocked down Timms’ nose wing, leaving the 19-year-old to limp his ill-handling race car to a third-place finish. Larson, who pocketed $21,000 for the victory, led the final five laps and beat runner-up Corey Day by 1.699 seconds. He rebounded after breaking an axle leading his heat race, but by virtue of event points used to line up the feature, Larson still started 11th.
Carson Macedo, meanwhile, saw his bid end on lap 13 when contact with a lapped car while running second sent him tumbling in turn two.
