Slinger is a quaint town in southeastern Wisconsin. While its population continues to grow toward 7,000 strong, it maintains its small town USA feel. Monday, that all changes.
The 47th annual Slinger Nationals week is upon us, and Monday is the day we all begin to see where each driver stacks up against each other.
Super Late Models reign supreme, but this year there is a new twist to the Monday lineup. First, the Turn One CRA Pro Series joins the Nationals for the first time in history. The Pro Late Models will compete for 100 laps.
The Pro Late Models will rip around the high-banked, quarter-mile oval, but Supers will still own the track. First, plenty of practice, then a bracket challenge that feels more like an event on a court in March than it does on a race track.
The fastest 32 teams from practice will be seeded into a head-to-head bracket. The matchups are based on speed, so the fastest in practice will go up against the 32nd place driver and so forth down the line.
The bracket will progress from 32 teams, to 16, 8 and then the Final Four. The final four drivers each receive a new set of tires to make one final solo run. The fastest lap of those four wins $5,000 and a guaranteed starting spot in Tuesday’s Slinger Nationals.
