A new season for Dirt Late Model's premier midweek series began Wednesday at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Ill., as FloRacing Night in America returned with many of the sport’s top drivers vying for the $75,000 championship title.
Commanding all 50 laps from the pole, Brandon Sheppard captured the miniseries opener at Spoon River, taking home $20,000 in what was also the opener for the now four-race Illinois Speedweek. Sheppard kept Hudson O'Neal at bay in lapped traffic the last half of the feature in taking the checkers by 1.149 seconds ahead of the Martinsville, Ind., driver.
