Can Rico Repeat? And 3 Key Questions Ahead Of The High Limit Racing Season

With over $1 million in winnings up for grabs and Tony Stewart adding even more firepower to Rico Abreu's ride, the 2026 Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing season is set to be one of the most highly anticipated series of the year for fans of elite sprint car racing.

The extended 66-race season kicks off on familiar turf, returning to Las Vegas March 12-14 for the 2026 High Limit Season Opener. It will open up a long week of racing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway before NASCAR takes over "Sin City."

New stakes in 2026 include more cash rewards than ever, not to mention the unprecedented $18 million investment by High Limit Racing which formalized a new "High Roller Club" and "Joker Fund" to make it easier than ever for teams to compete long-term. More details can be found below.

Here are four burning questions we have heading into the 2026 season.

1. Can Rico Abreu Make It Two In A Row?

Between the season opener in Las Vegas last March and the finale in October at Texas Motor Speedway, Rico Abreu secured 13 feature wins and led High Limit races for 256 laps—70 more than the next best, Aaron Reutzel. It was good enough to secure the drivers and owners points races by more than 40 points in his first career sprint car championship series win.

In 2026, Abreu has even more firepower on his side with Tony Stewart officially along for the ride.

With a new name and franchise, Abreu will be driving the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 24 as the reigning series champion.

Rico said "This is not just an opportunity to drive for a great race team, but really one of the best teams ever assembled in sprint car racing history."

2. What's New With The 2026 High Limit Schedule?

The 2026 High Limit series schedule features 66 races and will tour across 20 states with five new states that weren't included in 2025.

Right at the top of the season, there will be three nights of racing to kick off the racing in Las Vegas instead of just two. The same is true for the following week in Casa Grande at the Central Arizona Raceway, March 19-21.

New race tracks dot the schedule, including visits to Dacotah Speedway in North Dakota, Davenport Speedway in Iowa, and Big Sky Speedway in Montana among others.

The Roto-Rooter Midweek Series is expanded to 15 events, bringing even more dirt action to our screens on weekdays.

Chase Raudman broke it all down on YouTube.

3. "Rookie Of The Year" Battle Is Officially On: Hank Davis or Tanner Holmes?

On February 17, Hank Davis announced that he would be hitting the dirt full-time on the High Limit Racing Series tour. The 22-year-old will compete against not only some of the best sprint car drivers in the world, but also another Gen-Z driver in 21-year-old Tanner Holmes.

Holmes, a native from Jacksonville, Oregon, is driving the Buch Motorsports No. 13.

Davis, out of Sand Springs, Oklahoma will be driving the No. 17GP for Michael Dutcher Motorsports and Lance Keller with Lifestyle Homes.

In 2025, Daison Pursley snagged the Rayce Rudeen Foundation Rookie of the Year Award. He beat three other rookies for the title and finished seventh in the drivers points race.

Read more here about how Hank Davis has risen through the ranks through consistent performances at the Chili Bowl Nationals.

4. How Will The "High Roller Club" and "Joker Fund" Shift Things?

Teams have a chance to compete for more than ever. Now, the potential for earning a membership card to the "High Roller Club" is on the table based on 2026 and 2027 performance for five teams.

The High Roller Club includes ten race teams that have earned exclusive membership cards based on their performance in 2024-25.

With it, they are guaranteed annual payouts and provide stability for the teams through distribution of a total value of $18 million.

Each season, card rankings will be reshuffled among members based on each team's two-year average finish in the points standings. Card values, which are paid throughout the season and independent of race purse and bonus monies, are set to increase through 2029.

Here's who won each card for 2026:

  • Ace - Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing - $425,000
  • King - Kasey Kahne Racing - $350,000
  • Queen - Clauson-Marshall Racing - $300,000
  • Jack - Murray-Marks Motorsports - $280,000
  • Ten - Ridge & Sons Racing - $260,000
  • Nine - Jason Meyers Racing - $240,000
  • Eight - Buch Motorsports - $220,000
  • Seven - Rudeen Racing - $200,000
  • Six - Rod Gross Motorsports - $175,000
  • Five - CJB Motorsports - $150,000

One team, Spire Motorsports, has used the "High Roller Club" as an opportunity to dive into the deep end by purchasing Jason Meyers Racing's membership card. Owner Jeff Dickerson has hired Giovanni Scelzi to drive the Chili's sponsored No. 77 with a help from six-time national champion crew chief Eric Prutzman.
