Kyle Larson Flips After 15 Laps, Crashes Out Of Chili Bowl 2026
Kyle Larson’s 2026 Chili Bowl Nationals ended early after flipping on the 15th lap. The defending champion was forced out despite a dominant week.

Kyle Larson saw his bid for a third Chili Bowl Nationals title end abruptly Saturday night, just 15 laps into the 2026 main event, after a flip took the defending Golden Driller winner out of the feature.

Larson led through about five laps before Emerson Axsom took over the front.
As the leaders worked through lapped traffic, Axsom zipped through, leaving Larson with nowhere to go as he ran into the back of C.J. Leary, flipping his 1K car onto its side.
It seemed as though Larson might be able to continue, as the work crew attempted repairs.
However, cameras showed last year’s Golden Driller champion taking his gloves off and being towed away.
The early exit was a stunning turn for Larson, who entered the week as the favorite, having won his qualifier, A-Main, and the pole shuffle, while aiming to add another chapter to his Chili Bowl legacy after triumphs in 2020, 2021, and 2025.
