The 40th annual Chili Bowl Nationals powered by NOS Energy is officially off and running with the first of five preliminary nights completed on Monday; now it’s time for the Tuesday titans to hit the track.

Tuesday’s second preliminary tentatively displays 81 entries on the ChiliBowl.com website with only two lock-in stops available to Saturday’s 55-lap Championship A-Main. All week long, we’ll take you through some of the stars to keep your eye on as you watch on FloRacing - the official live streaming partner of the event. Coverage begins at 3 p.m. CT with the Chili’s Grill & Bar Pre-Race Show, followed by Dirt Draft Hot Laps at 4 p.m. CT.

The major change to Tuesday comes from the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports camp with Golden Driller contender Buddy Kofoid sidelined due to health issues. Buddy, fresh off a tremendous World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series campaign, has claimed a pair of Tuesday triumphs and five prelim podiums in six tries

In his place, KKM has moved Knoxville Nationals champion Ryan Timms to headline Tuesday’s program in the Curb Records #71. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native already owns a Golden Driller from the Jr. Sprints division of the Tulsa Shootout, but has risen into contention for the one everyone wants in recent years. Timms’ move to Tuesday, following back-to-back years of competing with Logan Seavey for Friday’s victory, could lead to his first-career preliminary feature win in the SageNet Center tonight.

Tuesday’s defending winner, Landon Brooks,  is back and ready to do it again with Matt Wood Racing. The Rio Oso, California native watched his teammate Shane Golobic finish second in the Race of Champions and fourth in the preliminary A-Main last night, kicking off a six-car roster for MWR. While some may have been surprised by Brooks’ triumph last year, he more than backed it up come Saturday night when he finished top-five in his first try at the Chili Bowl Championship A-Main. Through 19 years of Tuesday’s prelim, only Kyle Larson has ever went back-to-back, but Landon could change that tonight.

Local legend Jonathan Beason is another preliminary winner in the field tonight, topping Tuesday’s field in 2014. The Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native is fresh off an Outlaw Non-Wing Golden Driller at the Tulsa Shootout, chasing his ninth-career Chili Bowl Championship A-Main appearance perhaps with more confidence than ever in the Expo.

Since 2023, we’ve seen Sand Springs, Oklahoma native Hank Davis transform into a consistent contender on Tuesday with Matt Seymour Racing. He scored a wildly popular win that year in front of his hometown crowd and has since followed that with another lock-in (2nd) in 2024, then a seventh-place finish last year. They’re back together to chase their fourth-consecutive Championship A-Main appearance this week.

Zach Daum of Pocahontas, Illinois is the fourth former preliminary winner racing tonight, scoring a Tuesday prelim way back in 2010 in his own equipment. With Andy Bondio, a three-time Chili Bowl champion car owner back in the building, Daum has returned to the iconic #47X machine in hopes of returning to his ninth Championship A-Main later this week.

While those are the four with winning experience on the Chili Bowl stage,, the list of contenders on Tuesday runs far beyond them. Look at these other aces that are set to run tonight…

That’s only a sliver of the excitement in store tonight with 80+ entries expected for the first of five prelims. The full tentative entry list for tonight can be found below.

A field of 21 rookies are tentatively scheduled to run in Tuesday’s prelim with notables including California teenager Jett Barnes driving a Swindell/Curb/Bertand #1A, former Tulsa Shootout runner-up Parker Perry, internationals Zoe Pearce and Trent Way, late model regular Drake Troutman in a Grady Chandler entry, and NASCAR connected Sheldon Creed in a Ninety-Four Racing machine. After Monday, Jakeb Boxell and Gaige Weldon are the leaders in the chase for Rookie of the Year honors with both drivers securing B-Main trips come Saturday.
