The Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts returns where the event began in 2001 at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Ariz., as the miniseries features four $10,000-to-win events bookended by $25,000-to-win features.
Fourth-starting Hudson O’Neal of Martinsville, Ind., withstood a late-race challenge from Mike Marlar and led the final 30 laps to capture Sunday’s second round of the miniseries. O’Neal took the checkered flag 1.745 seconds ahead of Marlar, earning $10,000 and his first career miniseries triumph.
Bobby Pierce paced the opening 10 laps but faded to finish third in a race he ran as low as fifth. Four drivers held the second position throughout the 40-lap feature: O'Neal (laps 1-10, Pierce (laps 11-16), Jonathan Davenport (17-25) and Marlar (laps 26-40).
Brandon Sheppard brought out one of the six cautions with 16 laps to go for a flat tire.
