Tulsa Shootout Officials Issue DQ Following Tire Tests

Tulsa Shootout officials have announced a disqualification following the results of a tire test.

The second round of results from Tire Samples collected throughout the 41st annual Hyper Racing Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink have been delivered, and one sample has returned not conforming to the benchmark.

As posted in the rules for the Tulsa Shootout, The following classes MUST run the Hoosier ASCS2 stamped Right Rear tire or you will be disqualified: Left Rear must be a Hoosier. Winged Outlaw, Non-Wing Outlaw, Winged A-Class, Stock Non-Wing, and Restricted 'A' Class. In Junior Sprints, all four corners of tires are to be Hoosiers. The right rear spec tire is to be the Hoosier Jr. Sprint tire16.0/8.5/8/8 RD 20. In all classes, tire samples will be taken and sent to be tested. Any doping of tires is illegal and will result in the disqualification and forfeiture of all purse money.

Samples taken from the car owned by Dave Mac Motorsports, and driven by Kale Drake in Stock Non-Wing have come back not conforming to the benchmark, and as a result, Drake has been disqualified. Samples were taken following race No. 244 from the mandated ASCS2 Right Rear.

All samples were taken in the designated Tech Area as soon as the race was completed and cars cleared the scales. Samples were taken using the respective team’s tire groover, and team members witnessed the procedure. All samples were placed into a vial and then put into a numbered evidence bag. Each sample, including the date it was taken, race number, tire compound, tire serial number, evidence bag number, official’s initials, and a team representative’s signature.

A final round of samples will be sent following the Tulsa Shootout, and results will be reported once they are delivered.
