In a span of six months, Ashton Torgerson has gone from barely having any 410 Sprint Car experience to readying for a national touring campaign in 2026.

With Shark Racing, the 19-year-old of Glendale, Ariz., declared his intentions to follow the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series next season, making him a traveling teammate alongside veteran Logan Schuchart and continuing the late Bobby Allen's legacy on the tour.

"That's where Bobby started, on the World of Outlaws in the 1A," Torgerson told FloRacing why he and Shark Racing picked WoO over Kubota High Limit Racing for 2026. "That's where it all started, his whole legacy. Such an incredible career Bobby had. When I got to work with Bobby, it was such an incredible experience to work with him. He taught me so much. I'll never forget that and the time I got t spend with him, and everything he taught me That'll stick with me forever. As far as Jacob, tough, he's teaching me a lot, too, and I think it's going to work out good."

Before this year, Torgerson had 10 races under his belt in the 410 division. When Jacob Allen retired from full-time racing in early April and when a short-lived deal with Cale Thomas ended abruptly two weeks later, the Allens turned to the fresh-faced Torgerson to fill the No. 1A seat.

From the outset, he left an impression on the organization — winning in his first weekend with the Shark team April 27 at BAPS Motor Speedway and immediately convincing Bobby Allen, who tragically passed away on Oct. 5, to keep him full-time.

"Bobby had always talked about which one to do. He was thinking about it pretty early when I was in the car, he just didn't know which he wanted to do," Torgerson said of choosing between WoO and High Limit. "But it was pretty early, I'd say, maybe two months after I first drove it, we were all talking about it. Jacob Allen has chosen the Outlaws" because of the Shark Racing's legacy on the World of Outlaws circuit.

Jacob Allen will serve as Torgerson's crew chief, too.

"It's super exciting. All year it's been a pleasure to race with Jacob Allen and having time to race with Bobby, too. It was incredible. Driving this 1A for them is something I'll never forget."

Torgerson knows there's still plenty to learn, but at the same time, he's ready to make this leap to the national stage.

"Getting this 1A ride was incredible, but I'm still trying to figure out this 410 stuff: The speed, the dirty air, all that stuff," Torgerson said. "Still trying to figure that out, but it's great because Jacob Allen is such a good coach and mentor for that, as well as a crew chief. He kind of does it all. It's nice to have him behind my back and help me with that stuff.

"The first weekend when we won, that was cool for all of us. Then after that, we continued to have speed. Kings Royal, i think i started fifth and ran third most of the race. Finished inside the top-10. Coming to all these big races I haven't been to, and the tracks I haven't been to, we have speed right out of the gate. We're always fast. I just need to clean up little mistakes."
