One week later than planned, the Short Track Nationals will roar to life this weekend at 67 Speedway of Texarkana with a strong field of 25 sprint car drivers currently entered. The event, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, features a mix of national-caliber veterans and up-and-coming regional talents ready to battle on the high-banked Arkansas oval.

Among the notables entered is Sam Hafertepe Jr. of Sunnyvale, Texas. The five-time American Sprint Car Series national champion and two-time Short Track Nationals victor is one of the most accomplished drivers in 360 sprint car competition. He enters the weekend with momentum after 11 ASCS feature wins this season.

Australian driver Ian Madsen adds international star power to the entry list. A former Knoxville Raceway track champion and World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year, Madsen brings experience and precision to the Texarkana half-mile. 

Other notable entrants include three-time Short Track Nationals winner Blake Hahn, a perennial contender in major 360 sprint car events, and Tim Shaffer, a veteran racer and former Knoxville Nationals winner known for his experience on both 410 and 360 circuits.

The field also features promising young drivers such as Kubota High Limit Racing regular Brenham Crouch, Landon Crawley, and Hank Davis, who continue to make their mark against some of the sport’s best.

Knoxville Raceway 360 sprint car champion Tasker Phillips has also thrown his name into the ring for this weekend’s event.

This year’s Short Track Nationals mark the event’s return after two consecutive rainouts in 2023 and 2024. 

Former winners of the race include Hafertepe, Hahn, Sammy Swindell, Christopher Bell, Brad Sweet and Steve Kinser.
