Veteran Dirt Late Model racer B.J. Robinson of Bossier City, La., announced today the conclusion of his run driving for DP Motorsports with team owner David Peterson shutting down his racing operation.

Robinson, 43, wrote in a Facebook post that “a lot of thought and discussion” between himself and Peterson went into the decision to close the doors of the DP Motorsports program. The pair have raced together for over a decade.

“It has been an incredible ride filled with unforgettable memories, long nights and amazing support from fans, friends and sponsors who have stood behind us through it all,” Robinson said. “I want to personally thank David Peterson and his family. They have been such a big part of my Late Model career and have given me incredible opportunities over the years. Their dedication, hard work and friendship mean more than words can say.”

A longtime employee of Stuckey Enterprises in Shreveport, La., Robinson has been a stalwart competitor on the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series for most of the past decade. He has seven career victories on the regional tour and this season finished third in the points standings, the ninth consecutive year he’s finished among the top-four. He’s finished as high as second in the standings twice, in 2018 and ’21.

Robinson made 25 starts this season with one victory — in Comp Cams action on Sept. 13 at Revolution Park in Monroe, La. — among six top-five and 13 top-10 finishes. His last appearance with DP Motorsports was in Oct. 10-11’s World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series doubleheader at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La., where he logged finishes of 19th and 17th.

“As we close this chapter, I am looking at what’s next and exploring new opportunities for the future,” Robinson wrote, indicating his interest in landing a ride to continue racing. “This isn’t goodbye, just a pause before the next race.”
