Kubota High Limit Racing made its highly anticipated debut at Path Valley Speedway Park on Sunday, the Central Pennsylvania quarter-mile oval that hosted a 35-lap, $12,000-to-win program.
Claiming to have made the right adjustments following the lap-11 open red, Tanner Thorson powered around early pacesetter Giovanni Scelzi on Lap 22 of 35 and never relinquished control for his second career full-field High Limit victory. Thorson topped Brady Bacon, who also passed Scelzi late in the going.
Sweet started from the pole, but never led a lap in finishing sixth. He still shaved off 18 points in his High Limit title race deficit to 15th-finishing Abreu, who now leads by 52 points with five races remaining.
Five cautions slowed the opening 17 laps: Lap 2 for Brandon Spithaler's spin, Lap 2 for sixth-running Ryan Timms; Lap 3 for Brent Marks and Jordan Strickler tangling in Turn 2; Lap 7 for Timms again; the Lap 7-restart for Rico Abreu and Logan Rumsey tangling in Turn 3; Lap 11 for third-running Chase Randall, who spun all by himself in Turn 4; and Lap 19 for Rumsey.
