Anthony Macri is expected to be sidelined for at least the next few weeks following Friday's crash at Eldora Speedway's 4-Crown Nationals where he overstepped the cushion running second with two laps remaining in the 25-lap Kubota High Limit Racing feature.

The 26-year-old Kings Royal champion who was evaluated at a local hospital for "immediate pain in my back" revealed to FloRacing on Monday evening that he's recovering from a compression fracture in his T4 vertebrae, which will keep him out of his Macri Motorsports No. 39M entry for at least three weeks.

"I saw a doctor this morning and he said I'm gonna be out for 3-4 weeks," Macri told FloRacing in a text Monday evening, two days after he tagged the outside wall and collided with Parker Price-Miller, a hard impact that ended his promising night in which he led the first 10 laps from the pole and commanded the second spot in the final laps.

"The car started to come back to me, and I could tell. I was tracking Rico down, and that lap I just pushed a little bit harder and just messed up and got into the wall, and that was that, unfortunately," Macri said on Saturday. "Right away once I was done crashing I had an immediate pain in my back that I had never experienced before."

"So after the care center (visit inside Eldora Speedway) I decided to go get some scans done (at a local hospital)."

His Macri Motorsports team posted Saturday on Facebook thanking supporters of the 14-time winner this year "for reaching out and (providing) well wishes" when they scratched from Saturday's 4-Crown Nationals finale at Eldora. Macri, who was supposed to follow High Limit Racing to 3/8-mile Bridgeport (N.J.) Motorsports Park on Saturday and quarter-mile Path Valley Speedway Park not far from his Dillsburg home in Spring Run, Pa., on Sunday, is targeting an Oct. 17 return.

That means he'll miss Oct. 3-4's Williams Grove National Open at Williams Grove Speedway as well as Oct. 10's $7,300-to-win Kramer Cup at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway and Oct. 10's World of Outlaws event at Lincoln Speedway.

"It's the best it can be for the situation I would say," said Macri, who added that medical professionals "said to just rest and let it heal on its own."
