Trone Outdoor Motorsports has hired a new driver to finish out the 2025 Central PA Sprint Car season.

Longtime Central Pennsylvania Sprint Car team Trone Outdoor Motorsports has hired JJ Loss as its new driver for the remainder of the 2025 season, the Hanover, Pa., operation announced Wednesday.
The 18-year-old Loss is the fourth driver to take the seat of the John Trone-owned No. 39 machine this year in addition to Derek Hauck, Jordan Thomas and Lynton Jeffrey, the veteran Australian racer who finished fifth in Aug. 9's Knoxville Nationals B-main, one spot shy of an A-main transfer.
Fielding race cars in the Central PA area since 1937, the Trone family No. 39 team is one of the longest-running operations in all of motorsports. Kevin Frey will crew chief for Loss, who makes his debut with the team in Friday's $6,000-to-win Billy Kimmel Memorial at Williams Grove Speedway.
"I am both excited and honored to drive the iconic Trone 39," Loss said in a statement released by the team. "I am excited to work with Kevin and the whole 39 team, and see what we can accomplish together. This is a huge opportunity for me and I am extremely grateful and excited to get going this weekend."
This Saturday's $10,000-to-win Weldon Sterner Memorial at Lincoln Speedway and Sunday's $15,626-to-win Jim Nace Memorial at Selinsgrove Speedway are part of a lucrative opening three-race weekend for Loss and the Trone team.
Though the teenage Loss is still searching for his first career 410 win, he has a pair of runner-ups aboard his family-owned No. 67 ride at Lincoln this year to Anthony Macri on April 5 and Brandon Rahmer on Aug. 16. He also finished ninth in July 6's PA Speedweek finale at Path Valley Speedway Park.
No other events beyond the upcoming three-race weekend have been announced for Loss and the Trone-owned No. 39 operation, but the team did say that "Trone Outdoor Motorsports looks forward to building momentum with Loss behind the wheel and will share updates on long-term plans in the near future."
