A $75,000 prize will be on the line this weekend when the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series visits Florence Speedway for the prestigious North-South 100. The event will feature three nights of racing beginning Thursday, August 7 and ending with the main event on Saturday, August 9.

Where Is The North-South 100 Held?

The North-South 100 is held annually at Florence Speedway, a semi-banked half-mile dirt oval in Union, Kentucky.

Who Won Last Year's North-South 100? 

Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill.,  scored his third career North-South 100 victory and second consecutive win in 2024.

  • The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rolls into Kentucky’s Florence Speedway for its second of three straight crown jewel events with the 43rd annual North-South 100. 
  • The three-day weekend purse exceeds $325,000 and kicks off with twin 25-lap, $6,000-to-win split-field semifeatures Thursday and Friday, with combined points setting the heat race lineups for Saturday’s finale; consolations precede the 100-lap, $75,000-to-win main event. 
  • The 2025 invitation-only Hall of Fame induction ceremony is 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning, inductees include: Kyle Berck, Lance Matthees, Kelly Boen, Fred Horn, C.L. Pritchett, Kelley Carlton, Tom Deery, Carl Short, Roby Helm, the Izzo family and Don Schoenfeld. 
  • It’s the first Lucas Oil Series visit to Florence since last year’s North-South after May’s Ralph Latham Memorial was rained out. 
  • Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., is a three-time North-South 100 winner, including two consecutive (2016, ’23-’24). Pierce won $5,000 prelims each night in 2023, before also adding a $6,000 semifeature last year. 
  • Points leader Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., won two $6,000 prelims last year and enters having made 10 straight North-South 100 features. 
  • Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., has the longest active with 20 consecutive North-South 100 starts; Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., is next in line starting 12 consecutive finales. 
  • Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., has semifeature victories in each of the last two years while also topping last year’s $10,000 Spring 50 in the James Essex-promoted Northern Allstars Late Model Series competition. 
  • Josh Rice of Crittenden, Ky., has 13 Florence victories since 2021, including his first career Lucas Oil triumph in May 1, 2021’s Latham Memorial. He's earned more than $90,000 over that span. 
  • Pits open at 3 p.m. with hot laps at 7 daily; grandstands open at 6 for Thursday-Friday prelims; grandstands open at 3 for Saturday’s finale.
