Stewart Friesen Injured In Major Dirt Modified Accident
Stewart Friesen is being treated for injuries after a major accident during Monday's Super DIRTcar Series Dirt Modified race at Autodrome Drummond.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Stewart Friesen is being treated for significant injuries following a vicious Dirt Modified crash during Monday's Super DIRTcar Series race at Autodrome Drummond.
While running fourth on a Lap 17 restart, Friesen jumped the cushion on the backstretch and made contact with the outside turn three wall. The contact forced Friesen's No. 44 Modified to flip into the air before landing hard on the outside wall and erupting into flames. Upon landing back on the racing surface upside down, Friesen's car was struck hard by another car who was unable to avoid the accident.
A video of the incident can be viewed below beginning at the 1:35 mark.
The race was immediately red flagged as safety crews tended to Friesen. Super DIRTcar Series officials reported that Friesen was alert and speaking with officials prior to being transported to a nearby medical facility for evaluation.
On Tuesday morning, Jessica Friesen (Stewart's wife) posted an update on Friesen's condition via social media.
According to the statement, Friesen suffered an "unstable, open-book pelvic fracture," which means his pelvis is broken in two or more areas with a hematoma on the area. Additionally, Friesen suffered a fractured right leg.
Friesen was transported to a larger hospital on Tuesday morning in order to undergo surgery to treat both injuries.
