First Look: Entry Lists For CARS Tour Throwback Classic At Hickory
Entry lists for the CARS Tour Throwback Classic presented by FloRacing at Hickory Motor Speedway.

More than 70 race cars will be on property at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway for Saturday’s massive “Throwback Classic” presented by FloRacing for the zMAX CARS Tour. $50,000 is on the line for the Late Model Stock Cars, while $30,000 is available for the winner of the Pro Late Model race, which makes Saturday the highest paying night in the history of pavement Late Model racing in America.
As of Wednesday morning, 43 cars have filed entries to chase the $50,000 check at “The Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars.” Nearly 30 cars have entered the Pro Late Model race.
So far five drivers have declared that they will run double-duty, giving themselves a chance to take home a massive $80,000 in one night. Those drivers are 2024 Snowball Derby champion and 2024 CARS Tour Pro Late Model champion Kaden Honeycutt, 2023 CARS Tour throwback race winner Mason Diaz, 2023 CARS Tour Pro Late Model champion Caden Kvapil, and two drivers who have scored victories at North Wilkesboro Speedway, Conner Jones and Tristan McKee.
Two weeks ago Hickory held its annual Jack Ingram Memorial 100, which might have served as a possible preview to what we may see in Saturday’s 125-lap race.
That race ended with Kvapil scoring his first Late Model Stock Car victory, holding off Landen Lewis, who sits second in CARS Tour points, to get the win. The entire top-six finishers in that race are all entered in Saturday’s Throwback Classic 125. Michael Bumgarner finished third with Mason Diaz, Landon Huffman, and Thomas Beane completing the top six.
Entering Saturday’s race, Connor Hall and JR Motorsports lead Landen Lewis and Kevin Harvick Inc. by just six points following last month’s race at Caraway Speedway. Hall has one victory in CARS Tour competition at Hickory. He won the Throwback race in 2022. Hall has come close to adding more CARS Tour wins at Hickory to his resume, but circumstances kept him out of victory lane. Like last year, when Ryan Millington made hard contact with Hall entering the final corner. Hall spun out, while Millington took the checkered flag.
Millington was penalized for the contact, which gave the victory to Ronnie Bassett Jr. The victory was Bassett’s first, and still stands as his only CARS Tour win to-date.
In addition to the CARS Tour regulars, heavy-hitters such as former champions Jared Fryar and Deac McCaskill are on the entry list. A victory on Saturday would be Fryar’s third of the season. Layne Riggs, Trevor Ward, Treyten Lapcevich, Jake Bollman, Chase Burrow, and Chad McCumbee are some more notable names in the 40-car field.
Meanwhile, on the Pro Late Model side of things, 13-year-old Keelan Harvick is looking to back up his victory at Hickory from July 12 with another CARS Tour win in the Pro Late Model 100-lapper this weekend. Harvick will be driving a No. 32 car in tribute to his late grandfather, John Linville, on Saturday night, rather than his usual No. 62 machine.
To do so, Harvick would have to hold off the likes of Honeycutt, Kvapil, Jones, Luke Baldwin, Casey Roderick, Spencer Davis, Dawson Sutton, Dylan Cappello, and more.
Last year’s Pro Late Model race at Hickory saw a crazy three-wide battle between Kvapil, Jones, and Jimmy Renfrew that ended with Renfrew in victory lane.
The entire entry lists for both divisions in Saturday’s Throwback Classic presented by FloRacing can be found below.
