Tensions ran high as two of the best Sprint Car drivers in the country battled for position Friday night at Eldora Speedway. An on-track battle between Kyle Larson and David Gravel during the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series "Knight Before" feature led to an exchange of words after the checkered flag.

As Rico Abreu took the checkered flag with Carson Macedo behind him, Gravel and Larson were locked into a fierce battle for the third position. Hard racing on the final lap ended with Larson narrowly beating Gravel at the line to complete the podium.

After the checkered flag, contact between the two drivers sent Larson spinning backward on the track, with Gravel positioned right beside him. Gravel could be seen gesturing towards Larson and showing his displeasure.

The two drivers were called to the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series command center after the race to speak with Series Director Carlton Reimers.

"I don't know if I'm satisfied about it yet," Gravel said on the DIRTVision broadcast after the discussion. "He's been running me same way for the last couple of weeks and it starts at Huset's and he's got a vendetta towards us. We could keep playing that game, but eventually it's not gonna be good, but he should be a professional. He thinks our team's not professional, and, he should be the ultimate professional. He's not driving like that on the racetrack. So we're friends, but, I guess right now we're not.

"That is past the point. It was all the stuff before that. He did it to me twice in that feature before that. I gave it back to him once and then he gave me it back again. And, you know, him running third or fourth this race doesn't change his life. He doesn't do this for a living and, you know, he's gotta remember that and, we'll see."

Larson said the confrontation was simply a result of hard racing between the two drivers.

"It was good hard racing, you know, two hard racing drivers right there. So I hope the fans enjoyed it. I know it's tight from my seat, but sometimes, you know, you come out ahead, sometimes you don't. Tonight we got in front of him and beat him once again on the last lap."

Kings Royal week at Eldora Speedway concludes Saturday night with the $200,000-to-win main event for World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.
