More than $300,000 in winnings are up for grabs this week at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway, which hosts Kubota High Limit Racing’s Joker’s Jackpot on July 16-17 and the 42nd Kings Royal sanctioned by the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Series on July 18-19.

With the mega week at the Big E on tap, we’ve listed 10 favorites in alphabetical order primed to have continued success at the famed half-mile.

July 16-17’s Joker’s Wild as part of High Limit Racing will be streamed live on FloRacing and nationally televised on FS1, while July 18-19’s King’s Royal can be streamed live on DIRTVision.

Rico Abreu — Rico Abreu Racing No. 24

When Abreu and ultra-successful crew chief Ricky Warner are firing on all cylinders, they are perhaps the toughest team to beat. Eldora Speedway traditionally brings the best out of Abreu, who boasts seven wins at the half-mile over the last four seasons, including last year’s Kings Royal prelim and 4-Crown Nationals. His nine overall wins this year are second in the nation only to David Gravel’s 10.

Tyler Courtney — Clauson-Marshall Racing No. 7BC

Winged Sprint Cars, Wingless Sprint Cars, Midget cars, Silver Crown cars, you name it, the Indianapolis, Ind., superstar has won in practically everything he’s raced at the Big E. The 38th Kings Royal winner simply loves Eldora Speedway, the half-mile that’s yielded a career-high 13 triumphs at one racetrack. Though he only has two wins so far this year, his four straight podiums give him and his No. 7BC Clauson-Marshall Racing team momentum.

David Gravel — Big Game Motorsports No. 2

The winningest Sprint Car driver in the nation returns to the Big E after sweeping the Joker’s Jackpot and Kings Royal last year, yielding him north of $275,000. Gravel and his Big Game Motorsports team are the unequivocal favorites once again, having won four of their last six starts at the Big E, including five top-two finishes. Already winning the Knoxville Nationals and Williams Grove National Open, another lucrative week would further cement Gravel’s Crown Jewel resume.

Buddy Kofoid — Roth Motorsports No. 83

Amid a breakout season where he already has two six-figure paydays and another $55,555 triumph, the 23-year-old is on the cusp of his first Big E Crown Jewel. He’s never won at Eldora in a Sprint Car, but his $250,000 and $100,000 victories last month at Huset’s have to give him confidence that he can now win the sport’s biggest events.

Kyle Larson — Paul Silva-owned No. 57

The 2021 Kings Royal champ hasn’t won in a Sprint Car at Eldora since that very triumph, but as it’s universally known, Larson and resourceful crew chief Paul Silva are always contenders no matter recent trends. A King’s Royal victory on Saturday would make him the fourth driver in the history of Sprint Car racing alongside Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz and Doug Wolfgang to win multiple Knoxville Nationals and Big E Crown Jewels.

Carson Macedo — Jason Johnson Racing No. 41

Steady as they come at Eldora, with five top-10s at the half-mile over his last seven races there, Macedo looks to breakthrough for his first Big E Crown Jewel and shake off a DNQ at last year’s Kings Royal. The five-time winner this year has a pair of Kings Royal prelim wins in 2023 and 2021, plus a Joker’s Wild prelim win in 2021.

Anthony Macri — Macri Motorsports No. 39M

Though he’s become a more well-rounded driver over the years, half-miles bring the best out of The Concrete Kid, whose eight wins this year tie him for third in the nation. Macri’s never won at Eldora, but he did finish fourth in last year’s 4-Crown Nationals and eighth in the 2022 Kings Royal. As long as Macri qualifies well and stays out of trouble, he should be right in the mix.

Brent Marks — Murray Marks Motorsports No. 19

Eldora Speedway ranks right up among Marks’s favorite tracks as the half-mile is home to his Historical Big One and Kings Royal sweep in 2022 that earned the Myerstown, Pa., driver $276,125 in winnings. Though he’s only won twice this year (May at Texas Motor Speedway on High Limit and May in High Limit’s Weikert Memorial prelim at Port Royal), he’s a strong threat at Eldora, a place he’s won at four times.

Donny Schatz — Tony Stewart Racing No. 15

Never count out the legend of Donny Schatz, who despite being uncharacteristically winless so far this year finds ways to remind everyone of his greatness. In 2023, he was in a similar spot, only having won twice entering Kings Royal week. By week’s end, he willed his way to his sixth career Kings Royal crown. A seventh Kings Royal victory would tie him with Steve Kinser for most all-time in the event.

Brad Sweet — Kasey Kahne Racing No. 49

As one of two active drivers along with Donny Schatz to win multiple Kings Royal titles, the Big Cat’s a shoo-in at Eldora Speedway, having racked up six podium finishes at the half-mile over his last 12 starts there. He hasn’t won at the Big E since his Eldora Million prelim win in 2023, and with only four wins so far this year, perhaps the six-time reigning national champ is due for another Crown Jewel victory.
