The Roto-Rooter Midweek Series on Kubota High Limit Racing kicked off the three-day Diamond Classic weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., with a 30-lap, $10,000-to-win program on Thursday.

In holding off a last-lap charge from Tanner Thorson, Aaron Reutzel narrowed the gap in the High Limit title race with his fourth series win of the season from the third-starting spot as the Clute, Texas, driver now trails Brad Sweet by a mere four points heading into Friday at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Sweet finished third Thursday from the 11th-starting spot while 10th-starting Thorson finished second. Thorson pulled the trigger on a last-corner slider that Reutzel snuffed out with a crossover to win by 0.101 seconds at the line. Chase Randall and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.
