Entry List For The 2025 South Boston 200 At South Boston Speedway
Entry List For The 2025 South Boston 200 At South Boston Speedway
Nearly 40 cars have already filed entries for Saturday's Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway.

The Virginia Triple Crown kicks off Saturday night with the biggest race on South Boston Speedway’s calendar, the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 (South Boston 200). Entries are still being received by South Boston’s main office, but already the entry list is the biggest we’ve seen in years.
More than 40 cars are expected to be on property this weekend to do battle against each other and the heat. 41 or more cars also means there will be a Last Chance Race following qualifying to determine who makes the 40-car starting field.
Four previous winners of the South Boston 200 are currently entered for Saturday’s race. Those four drivers are Deac McCaskill (2008, 2010), Peyton Sellers (2018, 2019), Bobby McCarty (2021, 2023), and Connor Hall (2024).
As part of our entry list spotlight, we’ll start off with the defending winner, Connor Hall. The Chesapeake, Virginia driver took the victory in the first leg of the 2024 Triple Crown in convincing fashion last year. Hall only led 19 laps, but they were the 19 laps that mattered as he drove away from the field in the closing laps. However, Hall won that race one year ago driving Barry Nelson’s No. 22. This year he’ll be in the No. 88 for JR Motorsports. JR Motorsports didn’t compete in this race last year, but took the checkered flag first in 2023 before being disqualified in post-race technical inspection. Hall has plenty of laps and plenty of success at South Boston Speedway, and should be a contender to go back-to-back for the first time since Peyton Sellers did it in 2018 and 2019.
And that leads us perfectly into Sellers, who has had so much success at his home race track. Not only has Sellers won this race twice, but he’s also a seven-time track champion at South Boston Speedway. Sellers has used his stellar performances at South Boston to catapult him to multiple NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series championships, as well as five Virginia Triple Crown titles. That said, Sellers has not been where he’s wanted to be in this race the last few years. He’s had multiple top five finishes, but no victories since 2019.

The same can be said for Bobby McCarty. The Madison, North Carolina driver has two South Boston 200 wins to his credit. He inherited his second one after Carson Kvapil was disqualified in 2023. Last year, the story was different. McCarty dropped out 110 laps early and finished 25th after qualifying fourth. This year, McCarty will be piloting a car out of his own stable. McCarty started his own race team at the start of this season and has been picking and choosing the races he wants to run. A victory in the South Boston 200 in his own car would be quite special for the 2021 Virginia Triple Crown champion.
For Deac McCaskill, his victories in the South Boston 200 came before the Virginia Triple Crown series was started. McCaskill didn’t run this race for eight years in a row until returning to South Boston Speedway for it last year. And wouldn’t you know it, the veteran driver scored a top 10 anyway.
Winston-Salem, North Carolina’s Trevor Ward claimed the 2023 Virginia Triple Crown championship after scoring the victory in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway by a foot over Landon Huffman. Ward followed that up with a second-place finish in last year’s South Boston 200. Ward led 76 laps in this race last season before giving up the lead to Hall in the closing stages.
While he’s not behind the wheel of a car, Lee Pulliam will still have a chance at adding an eighth South Boston 200 trophy to his collection. Pulliam won six times as a driver and once as an owner with Corey Heim in 2022. Doug Barnes Jr., who pilots one of Pulliam’s cars full-time in CARS Tour competition this season, will be looking to make his first start in the South Boston 200 this weekend.
Barnes is one of nine full-time CARS Tour drivers currently entered in Saturday’s race, along with Connor Hall, Brandon Pierce, Landon Huffman, Kade Brown, Ronnie Bassett Jr., Carson Loftin, Conner Jones, and Parker Eatmon. Buddy Isles Jr. is expected to become the tenth full-time CARS Tour driver entered, but his entry was not filed at the time of publication.
This year’s Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway kicks off a Virginia Triple Crown series that will be bigger than ever. The champion of the 2025 Triple Crown will receive a check for $20,000, which is the biggest payout in the history of the Triple Crown. A collaborative effort between FloRacing and NASCAR has led to an overall purse of $50,000 spread throughout the top 10 finishers in the Virginia Triple Crown standings following September’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway.
