Current And Future NASCAR Stars Highlight Summer Shootout Entry Lists
Entry lists for every division for the 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The Summer Shootout is back and all of the action kicks off this week with a doubleheader of racing for the Legends and Bandoleros on the quarter-mile at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Some of racing’s biggest names are in action along with some of the sport’s future stars.
Eight divisions will be in action on Monday between the Legends and Bandoleros, including the Legends Masters, Pro, Semi-Pro, Charger, and Young Lions, as well as the Bandolero Beginners, Bandits, and Outlaws.
The entry list across all divisions features some massive names racing, and we’ll start with a couple of big names all the way from New Zealand.
NASCAR’s Shane Van Gisbergen is piloting a car out of the Joe Ryan Racecars stable in the Pro Legends division. “SVG” is already a winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, having pulled off a historic win in the inaugural Chicago Street Race two years ago. Van Gisbergen is currently 33rd in points in his rookie Cup Series season as he continues to hone in his skills on ovals. His best finish so far this season on an oval was a 14th-place run in the Coca-Cola 600 on the big track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
His Kiwi teammate is IndyCar’s Scott McLaughlin. McLaughlin, much like SVG, is making his Summer Shootout debut on Monday night. The Team Penske driver has limited oval racing experience thanks to the IndyCar schedule, but he’s been fast on ovals ever since his rookie season. McLaughlin finished second in his oval debut at Texas Motor Speedway in 2021, then backed that up with another top 10 at TMS that same weekend. McLaughlin finally scored his first oval victory last season at Iowa Speedway. He followed that up with a third-place at Iowa the next day, a runner-up finish at Gateway a few weeks later, and another victory at the Milwaukee Mile later that season.
Also running the Pro division out of the same racing stable is Keelan Harvick, who last year came so close to winning the Young Lions championship. Harvick, who has made very limited Legends appearances in 2025, just made waves last week when he scored his first Pro Late Model victory at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, California, beating his father, Kevin Harvick, and a stacked field in CARS Tour West to do it.
While he’s currently not entered for tonight’s season opener, NASCAR Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace is expected to be running a majority of the Pro Legends Summer Shootout schedule also out of the Joe Ryan Racecars stable.
Brexton Busch, the son of NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, will be a busy driver this summer. Busch is entered in two different divisions. He has plans to compete in the Bandolero Bandit division and the Legends Charger division. Busch has primarily raced on dirt so far in his extremely young racing career, and he captured a Golden Driller at the Tulsa Shootout last winter.
His father, Kyle Busch, will be in competition on Monday night as well. The driver for Richard Childress Racing on Sundays is entered in the Legends Masters division.
