Kyle Larson's hopes of completing all 1,100 miles of The Double came crashing down Sunday at the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on the lap-92 restart.

Riding in 18th and making his way back through the field after a dropping back to 31st early on because his car stalled on pit road, the 32-year-old overstepped his race car through turn two and was along for the ride from there.

His No. 17 McLaren-Hendrick machine snapped around and collected Kyffin Simpson and Sting Ray Robb in the process. Larson emerged OK and will be credited with a 27th-place finish at the Indy 500. He'll resume The Double this evening at NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway where he's set to second.

Larson won the Coke 600 in 2021 and is the betting favorite to win.
