Entry List: 130+ Modifieds Entered For Modified World Championship
More than 130 drivers are entered for the Modified World Championship at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. Take a look at the full entry list.

With the biggest purse in Modified racing up for grabs, more than 130 drivers are currently entered for the Modified World Championship at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. As of Wednesday evening, the entry list for the $100,025-to-win mega event stands at 131 drivers from 23 states and one Canadian province.
The four-day event begins on Wednesday, May 28 and concludes with the $100,025-to-win main event on Saturday, May 31. A total purse of over $300,000 will be on the line.

The list of drivers planning to compete in the event isn't just large in size, it's also chalk full of star power from both the Modified and Late Model ranks.
Defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Ricky Thornton Jr. headlines the list of entries as he returns to his Modified racing roots. Tyler Erb, Drake Troutman, Kyle Strickler, Mason Zeigler, Ethan Dotson, Stormy Scott and Cade Dillard are among the list of other Late Model regulars who will be chasing the six-figure Modified victory.
Of course, you can also expect to see the biggest stars in Modified racing competing in the event. Drivers like Rodney Sanders, Jim Chisholm, Joe Chisholm, Lucas Lee, Tom Berry, Jake Timm and the always-entertaining Charlie Mefford have all filed entries for the event.
The full list of 131 drivers currently entered for the Modified World Championship can be viewed at the bottom of this story.
A unique format will be used for the event with practice and qualifying being held on Wednesday, May 28 prior to two nights of preliminary racing on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30.
Each night of preliminary racing will consist of heats, b-mains and a pair of $2,525-to-win features. Each of the four preliminary features will lock the top five finishers into Saturday’s main event.
If you like soup, Saturday will be for you. An “alphabet soup” format similar to what is used at the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals will be used to give drivers a chance to move forward and potentially lock into the main event.
A full serving of soup will set the stage for the 80-lap Modified World Championship main event, where 30 Modified drivers will battle to have their name written on the $100,025 check. In addition to the hefty winner’s check, the runner-up finisher will take home $30,000 and the third-place driver will collect $15,000.
A $2,525-to-win Non-Qualifiers race will also be contested.
Modified drivers will be able to run their sanction (USRA, Wissota or DIRTcar UMP Modifieds) after claiming which sanction they’ll be following during pre-tech inspection on Wednesday.
As a bonus attraction, USRA Stock Cars will be in action for a $10,000-to-win feature of their own. A field of 60+ drivers have already pre-entered for the event with names like Dallon Murty, Dylan Thornton, Jim Chisholm and Lucas Schott throwing their hat into the ring.
