Tony Stewart Racing announced over the weekend a trio of crew changes on Donny Schatz's No. 15 team heading into the 2025 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season, with the biggest being Todd Devnich taking over as crew chief.

Devnich replaces Steve Swenson, who had served as the Fargo, N.D., driver's crew chief since 2019, and becomes Schatz's third crew chief over the last 20 years. In corresponding news, Gary Patellaro joins TSR from Roth Motorsports to become the 10-time World of Outlaws champion's new car chief while Ian Lyon takes over as Schatz's tire specialist.

National Sprint Car Hall of Fame crew chief Ricky Warner occupied the crew-chiefing role from 2005-18, guiding Schatz's No. 15 TSR team to 264 wins, 10 WoO titles and 10 Knoxville Nationals crowns over that 14-year span. Swenson steered Schatz to 37 wins over the last six seasons.

Denvich's relationship with Schatz dates back to the late 1990s when the Lincoln, Neb., native crewed for Schatz's family-owned team from 1998-2000. Denvich was also part of Schatz's first-ever WoO win at Cottage Grove (Ore.) Speedway in 1998.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of stepping into the role of crew chief, especially getting to do so with a driver of Donny Schatz’s caliber and with a team like Tony Stewart Racing,” Devnich said in a press release issued by Fully Injected Motorsports. “I’ve had the privilege of working with many crew chiefs across the sport who’ve served as mentors, such as Dave Yingst, Steve Swenson, Rick Warner, Kenny Francis and Keith Rodden just to name a few.

"They were great to learn from and provided a solid foundation of knowledge that I’m fortunate to have had exposure to. It’s going to be a new challenge and one that I’m ready to tackle head on every day. I also appreciate the confidence that Tony (Stewart) and Donny (Schatz) have that I’m up to the task as we take on the 2025 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series schedule.”

Lyon, like Denvich, is a Nebraska native. Patellaro, meanwhile, is from San Jose, Calif., and has previously worked for Brent Kaeding, Kasey Kahne, Daryn Pittman and James McFadden. Patellaro most recently helped McFadden finish inside the top-five of the Kubota High Limit Racing standings at Roth Motorsports. As for Lyon, he's previously served as a tire specialist with Don Droud Jr.
