Poor Forecast Forces CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Season Opener To Sunday
Expected rain for Saturday in North Carolina has moved the CARS Tour season opener to Sunday, March 10.
Due to an extremely poor forecast, CARS Tour officials announced Wednesday evening that this weekend’s season-opener at Southern National Motorsports Park for the Late Model Stock Cars will be rescheduled for Saturday afternoon, March 10.
With Saturday expected to be a washout, the CARS Tour made the proactive decision to move the racing program for the 125-lap Late Model Stock race to Sunday. Sunday will now consist of single-car qualifying, which will take place at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the 125-lap main event at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET.
This weekend’s entry list consists of 30 teams, all of whom will practice on Friday, March 8 at the 4/10-mile high-banked oval in Lucama, North Carolina. There will now be no pre-race practice sessions on race day, unlike the original weekend schedule.
