Brandon Overton cleared the air on two lingering debates surrounding he and his Wells Motorsports race team on Thursday's night one of the Super Bowl of Racing at Georgia's Golden Isles Speedway with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. One being the chassis he’s racing this weekend and two being his plans for this year.

While there are no decals explicitly identifying Overton’s chassis, he said it’s a Longhorn by Wells and dismissed claims that it’s anything different.

“Honestly, people have nothing better to do than sit at home and make up s— or whatever, you know what I mean?” said Overton, who finished third behind Hudson O'Neal and Jonathan Davenport. “Or dream up stuff. It’s all good. We’re still racing and we’re going to continue racing, whatever we do, you know what I mean? Obviously if we’ve made a change, we’d tell them.”

The other hot topic concerning Overton are the Evans, Ga., native's chances of following the Lucas Oil Series again. Last year, of course, saw Overton fall dramatically shy of the tour's top-four in points that'd ultimately slug it out for the title during the Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

As of Thursday, the 32-year-old has yet to submit a loyalty deposit with the series. Consider the likelihood of him touring on the series a zero.

“No, I’m not. Man, we’re going to race, and we’re going to have fun,” Overton said. “I’m going to run so many races, people will think I’m running Lucas, as many races as we’re going to go to. I’ll still hit all the big ones anyway. As I said, when we show up we’re going to be ready to go. We’re not going to be drained. We’re going to be ready to race.”

Even if he’s atop the standings through Georgia-Florida Speedweeks he won’t consider sticking with the tour? It doesn't sound like it.

“Hell, I was leading the points last year,” said Overton, who did pace the standings the first five races. “It can turn around real bad. Naw, we’re just going to race and go anywhere we want, anytime we want to and have fun.”
