Aaron Reutzel from Clute, Texas became the first American since 2015 to win the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Premier Speedway in Australia Sunday night. Reutzel claimed a $40,000 payday for his first career win in the Classic.

Reutzel started on the front row and avoided trouble while his closest competitors encountered a variety of problems. Brock Hallett and Lachie McHugh completed the podium.

“It’s so awesome to join the class,” said Aaron Reutzel. “To win it for the Sallers for everything they do, everything they put into this to win and to be competitive. This is amazing!”

“It's unreal, to win the classic, the Knoxville Nationals of Australia. I mean, it’s the Classic right? There’s no bigger stage in Australia."

Reutzel took over the lead after leader Sheldon Haudenschild crashed, collecting James McFadden in the process. Tire wear played a significant factor as American Chase Randall blew a tire while up front just before lap 20.
