Antony Macri opened up on social media Wednesday afternoon, addressing what he called "hearsay" and attempting to set the record straight on his decision to leave the Macri Motorsports team just before the Eldora Million in July.

"A person can only read and hear so much garbage," Macri said, "Some people don’t think of the effects comments or accusations have before they hit send. Frustrating is an understatement. Unfortunately, I can’t entertain you with t-shirt news or wanting this or wanting that. The simple reason for the split was because I'm burnt out. Jacob Allen’s Facebook post recently said it best. One might just think racing is for the weekends, but it is much more than that. If you’re not careful it can be life consuming and mentally draining."

Macri's decision to leave the Macri Motorsports No. 39M on the eve of the Eldora Million became one of the biggest stories of a wild Sprint Car silly season. He went on to drive for Clauson Marshall Racing with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions, filling in for an injured Tyler Courtney. Since, Macri has yet to make an appearance at a race track since his start in the Knoxville Nationals for CMR.

Macri is the defending winner of the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway, which takes place September 9. It is still unknown if he will compete in the event, or who he will drive for.

Lance Dewease, who replaced Macri at the Eldora Million, will be behind the wheel of the Macri Motorsports No. 39M for the event.
