UP AGAINST IT: Tezos All Stars Battle Back Against The Heat At Lake Ozark

Scorching temperatures and torn-down fencing could not stop the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions and Aaron Reutzel from putting on a memorable 30-lap feature Thursday night on a dynamic Lake Ozark Speedway. Reutzel committed to a strong slider on lap 17 bouncing his No. 8 off the cushion and into the lead ahead of Buddy Kofoid before driving to the win.

The $8,000 payday is Reutzel’s first winning check from the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions in 2023. The whole night seemed to be about making comebacks and nothing has come easy so far this year for him and his team. After losing the lead early, Reutzel was not initially confident he could catch Buddy Kofoid on the top and had a few major moments in traffic.

“With it being Buddy [Kofoid] and it being on top like that I was just hoping to stay with him. I knew my car was really good. Lapped traffic messed me up there. I had one guy slide me back. I had one change lanes as soon as I went to slide him. I just kept catching the lapped cars good. I figured Buddy was going to be good regardless and I was shocked when we go green in clean air and I was right with him catching him. At that point, if he makes one mistake I’ll be able to slide him. He got in the wall one time. I got the run and was able to pull the trigger.”

During the day a Missouri real feel of 107 degrees taxed teams, officials, and fans alike so the night’s racing was delayed an hour for some respite. Then with a lot of hard work and Qualifying in the rearview mirror, the staging lanes hastily filled for the first Heat Race.

Unfortunately, another delay loomed when a major incident occurred early involving Riley Goodno, Gunner Ramey, and Roger Crockett all of whom exited uninjured. As a result of the wreck, Crockett’s No. 11 caught the catch fence and punched a hole in a banner. Repairs took time and the resilience of the Tezos All Star officials, teams, and drivers was tested once more.

When the feature field was finally set, all the blood, sweat, and tears of the day were forgotten. Not only was the battle for the lead exciting but the entire top five six sliced and diced throughout the 30 laps of winged 410 sprint car action. Race fans were brought to their feet at the track or on the edge of their couch at home when an incredible battle erupted for the final podium position. Chris Windom, Parker-Price Miller, Ayrton Gennetten, Cory Day and Zeb Wise rotated in a hurricane of slide jobs and three-wide action.

The All Stars are bound for I-70 Motorsports Park tonight, Friday, July 28 in Odessa, MO.
