Wrestling the lead from race-long leader Jonathan Davenport on the 19th lap, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points leader Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., led the rest of Thursday’s caution-free Go 50 to capture the $12,000 Silver Dollar Nationals weekend opener at Huset’s Speedway, the event’s new home. 

The sixth-starting Thornton took the checkers 0.579 of a second ahead of Bobby Pierce while Davenport settled for third at the third-mile oval which took over the event from the now-closed I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Point Standings

With a win on Thursday night, Ricky Thornton, Jr. extended his lead to 330 points at the top of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points standings. Hudson O'Neal holds the second spot, with Brandon Overton now just 35 points behind him in third. Jonathan Davenport sits in the all-important fourth position, the final position for the championship final four.
