One of the most accomplished sports car drivers in current day is taking his talents circle track racing in the CARS Tour’s Pro Late Model division at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Wednesday, May 17. Three-time Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner Jordan Taylor announced Wednesday that he will be making his first start of any kind on an oval with E33 Motorsports out of Mooresville, North Carolina.

The 32-year-old driver from Orlando, Florida made his NASCAR Cup Series debut on the road course at Circuit of the Americas in March with a 24th-place finish. Since then he’s expressed interest in running a race on an oval, and is now taking his first steps towards that.

“I can’t wait for next week,” commented Taylor. “I’ve been getting to know the stock car world a bit more over the past few years being involved with different programs, but that’s all been on the road course side of things. E33 Motorsports has given me an amazing opportunity to now experience the oval side. We did a test a few weeks ago to see if I could at least drive on an oval, and I had a blast! It’s for sure a much different experience than I’m used to, but I’ve really been enjoying the new challenge. I think driving a Late Model and racing a Late Model are going to be two very different animals to tackle.”

Taylor has been testing the Pro Late Model at places like Ace Speedway, where the CARS Tour just raced last weekend, and the Orange County Speedway in the Raleigh area.

Taylor, who has a Jeff Gordon superfan alter ego named Rodney Sandstorm, won the 2017 24 Hours of Daytona in the prototype division, and also scored victories in 2019 and 2021. He is a two-time champion of the IMSA SportsCar championship.

He is also one of the lead voices in NASCAR’s foray into the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June as he is serving as a backup driver and coach/mentor to the Garage 56 driver lineup consisting of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, Formula 1 World Champion Jensen Button, and Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller. Taylor scored a class win at Circuit de la Sarthe in 2015.

E33 is competing full-time in the CARS Tour Pro Late Model division with Zac Fowler in their No. 5 machine.

The CARS Tour Pro Late Models will compete in the Crossroads Harley-Davidson 75 at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Wednesday, May 17 live exclusively on FloRacing. Race fans can subscribe to FloRacing to watch Jordan Taylor and the rest of the stars at North Wilkesboro Speedway by clicking here
