High Limit Sprint Car Opener Canceled Due To Record Rainfall
The season-opening High Limit Sprint Car Series event at Tulare Thunderbowl has been canceled due to record rainfall and an unfavorable weather forecast.
As a result of unseasonably record rainfall in recent weeks, High Limit Racing and Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway officials have made the decision to cancel the event scheduled for Tuesday, March 21. The non-points event was scheduled to be the season-opening event for the inaugural High Limit Sprint Car Series season.

Currently, the weather forecast for Tulare, California calls for three straight days of rain beginning on Sunday evening. With up to half an inch of rain expected on the scheduled Tuesday race day, series and track officials made the call to cancel the event in the interest of all parties involved including traveling competitors and fans.
The inaugural High Limit Sprint Car Series season is now scheduled to begin with the $50,000-to-win Shane Stewart’s Heartland of America Showdown presented by Team Trackhouse at Lakeside Speedway (KS) on Tuesday, April 11.
An impressive list of drivers have already committed to the full High Limit Racing Schedule. Those drivers include series co-owner and NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson, two-time Chili Bowl winner Rico Abreu, two-time USAC National Midget champion Buddy Kofoid and Indiana Sprint Car star Justin Peck. Pennsylvania Posse stars Brent Marks and Danny Dietrich have also announced their intentions to run the full schedule.
Every High Limit Sprint Car Series event in 2023 will pay a minimum of $23,023 to win, with a pair of $50,000-to-win races on the schedule. Drivers will also be racing for a $120,000 end-of-year points fund, which includes a $30,000 check for the inaugural series champion.
