Lincoln Speedway will break the ice on the 2023 racing season sooner than originally expected. With temperatures expected to reach a high in the 70s on Thursday, track officials announced that the traditional Icebreaker event for 410 Sprint Cars will now begin on Thursday, February 23.

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26. In a post on the track's website, officials indicated that they will be monitoring the weather for the scheduled dates and will provide updates when they become available.

Over the years, the Icebreaker has served as the season opener for Sprint Car racing in Central Pennsylvania. Many of the region's top drivers, otherwise known as the "PA Posse," are expected to compete in the race.

Freddie Rahmer claimed his first career season-opening win at Lincoln last year before going on to win his second straight track championship.

Thursday's 410 Sprint Car main event will be 30 laps and pay $5,000 to the winner. 410 Sprint Cars will be the only division on the schedule.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET. Live coverage of the event will begin at 7 p.m. ET on FloRacing.
